Spirit bonder for uw questions.
I have read the links to the main pages but these are some different questions that weren't answered in them(I think).
I have never used the spiritbonder and so these are my questions.
1. What weapons are the best to use? I have a totem axe, and can try to find a collector for protection icon. Or I could use kephkets refuge(20/20 prot staff 20% enchant +5 energy I think). Also if the weapon + icon is better, do you know of a collector for a good icon to use.
2. Does when you cast elemental resistance effect spirit bond like frenzy? Do I have to cast it before spirit bond for damage to go up?
3. For smites, do they hit you for enough damage to not have to use elemental resistance or do you use it for them too.
Thanks for any and all help.

1) The weapons you mentioned are fine. Check GuildWiki for Collectors.
2) Ele Resistence can be cast afterwards - as it doesn't directly effect dmg like Frenzy does - It effects your AL.
3) Its safe to use it everywhere (except if you are DYING to kill the ColdFires but i dont see why you would) - No reason not too - it lasts over its recharge at 0 attribute..

The only reason I was kind of worrying about using it was unnecessary energy spending against smites. (Not sure if this build ever has energy problems)
So, you have to use elemental resistance for smites to do enough damage then? Also, for smites I know they have reversal of fortune and stuff, but the spiritbonder with smite monk will still kill them right? Or do I need to bring one of the sympathetic visages for them.

Elemental resistance isn't so important for a normal smite route, but becomes more useful(though still not essential) when taking on the graspings around the village and mindblades in the chaos plains.
For weapons, 20% enchanting is the important mod to have. Kephkets is good, but I prefer having the 20/20 in divine favor for spellbreaker. SB/PS are 1/4 casts with <5 second recharge, so 20/20 protection prayers is of limited use anyway.
If you're sticking to smite runs only, SV/AV recharge is going to be more productive than spellbreaker recharge so a 20/20 illusion set may be useful.

Am I going to need sympathetic visage or the factions equivalent to kill smites? Or does the smiting skills when they attack me kill them alone.

I wasn't worried about them smiting anything, just wasn't sure if the smiting skills triggered their reversal of fortunes.

Reversal will still trigger, but typically you have both retribution and holy wrath dealing damage on a given hit. Reversal will only stop one of these, so if you applied retribution first, holy wrath will still deal full damage.
I like having SV anyway, the time the smites spend casting, they aren't hitting you and will just take longer to kill.

Here's what I have used for UW on my spirit bonder:
Armor:
Shing Jea Ascetics (the 15 AL cheap stuff)
Runes:
Major Healing
Major Divine
Sup Prot
no vigor
(health is 335 I believe)
Weapon:
Kephket's Refuge
Attributes:
16 Prot
9 heal
the rest in divine (I don't remember exactly off hand how much that is)
Skills:
Healing Breeze
Prot Spirit
Spirit Bond
Blessed Sig
Balth Spirit (or Essence Bond)
Mending
Blessed Aura
Spell Breaker {E}
Tips for use:
Make sure the necro keeps SV and AV on you when you take on Grasping Darknesses and Smite Crawlers. You can start off by having the necro grab the quest and grabbing a big group of Aataxes and Graspings at the same time. Beyond that just use the same strategy you would use if you were using a 55 build. Since SV keeps the Graspings from using Flurry you don't need any skills to increase damage taken.
